If you're planning on taking the SAT II, it's important to start preparing early. The best way to prepare for the SAT II is to take a practice test and identify your strengths and weaknesses. Once you know what you need to work on, you can focus your studies on those areas.

In this guide, we'll cover everything you need to know about the SAT II, including the different subject tests, the format of the test, and our high-speed, high-impact prep strategies.

The Different SAT II Subject Tests

There are 20 different SAT II subject tests, and each test is one hour long. The tests are divided into five different categories:

  • English
  • History
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Languages

The English tests cover reading, writing, and grammar. The History tests cover U.S. history, world history, and European history. The Mathematics tests cover algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. The Science tests cover biology, chemistry, and physics. The Languages tests cover Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, and Spanish.

The Format of the SAT II

The SAT II consists of two sections: a multiple-choice section and an essay section. The multiple-choice section consists of 50 questions, and the essay section consists of one essay prompt.

The multiple-choice questions are divided into three different types:

  • Single-answer questions: These questions have only one correct answer.
  • Multiple-answer questions: These questions have more than one correct answer.
  • No-answer questions: These questions do not have any correct answers.

The essay prompt is a short paragraph that provides you with a topic and asks you to write an essay on that topic. You have 25 minutes to write your essay.

  • Review your mistakes. After you take a practice test, take some time to review your mistakes. This will help you to identify the areas where you need to improve.
  • Get help from a tutor. If you're struggling to prepare for the SAT II on your own, consider getting help from a tutor. A tutor can help you to focus your studies and to improve your scores.
